Finally took the Xmas lights off the shrubs flanking the front porch today. It was warm and rainy. Saw the first robin. Worked with care so as not to step on the crocuses that are blooming. There were only two strands of lights connected with an extension cord, quite modest and rather minimal for Xmas lights, but somehow I kept forgetting about them every day since Twelfth Night.
The “bottom drawer” in the kitchen peninsula cabinet still awaits cleaning out. It was the drawer I first filled with a couple of tools and boxes of screws and nails and light bulbs and other household miscellany when we first moved here three years ago. It has become difficult to pull open because it is so heavy with accumulated objects. Three-quarters of those objects are probably not worth keeping any longer. It is time to deal with it.
There are two bookcases which had been in the living room, then moved down to the basement last year. They are full of books, most of which were used during my previous career. Task: contact friends who might want them. It is time to deal with it.
